Katarína Valčová

doc. PaedDr., PhD. · Practical Theology · EBF UK

Research vision

I am a practical theologian working at the intersection of homiletics, liturgics, religious education, and pastoral care. My formation at the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Faculty of Comenius University was deepened through habilitation at the Greek Catholic Theological Faculty in Prešov — an ecumenical crossing that shapes how I read questions of worship, proclamation, and community formation across confessional boundaries. Since 2014 I have been a docent at the Department of Practical Theology, EBF UK, where I also serve as Vice-Dean for Education.

My scholarly work draws on applied hermeneutics, liturgical theology, and the didactics of religious instruction, asking how inherited theological language is received, taught, and lived in contemporary congregational and educational settings. A research affiliation with Roanoke College (Salem, VA) since 2013 keeps this work in dialogue with North American practical theology and philosophy of religion.
